Prescott United School District Testimonials
To any department considering a therapy dog,
I currently work as a Licensed Associate Counselor in the PUSD school district. Therapy dogs have been an invaluable resource and tool for working with all students. Therapy dogs have the ability to brighten a rough morning or day for the student (and the staff)! They allow a child a safe outlet for their worries or concerns. I have seen a student’s anxiety and concern melt away as they pet and engage with the therapy dog and their amazing handlers. I could quote research articles supporting therapy dogs but the evidence for me is the smiles, reduced anxiety, and overwhelming requests to return from the students. I cannot tell you the number of students who check in asking: “When is the therapy dog going to be here?", “Can it be my week to spend time with the therapy dog alone?”. One student this week said “Can’t the therapy dog just travel with me to all my classes. That would be the best!” The team of handlers at Pet Partners has been great at accommodating our schedules and our specific needs based on emergency situations and kiddos. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.

My name is Ann Chavez and I am the PUSD social worker for grades K-8. I would like to share my experience with our therapy dogs over the last ten years. I think that a dog can calm and support children like nothing else. Dogs can become instant friends, and companions for children to help them through their day, They are a protection, comfort and companion in times of need. The handlers have been professional, kind and compassionate. I love our dogs! I think the idea of dogs in the courthouse is a fabulous one, kids can then meet the dog and the courtroom which will lesson their anxiety. Kids can also look forward to seeing a dog when they come to court, which again would lesson their anxiety. Kids never forget when I promise a dog, or it is a dogs day to come, no matter what the age group, dogs work! Please call me if you have any questions, thanks, Ann Chavez LCSW
